and steps involved, and the basic order
in which they occur.
Planning
- Home site selection
- House plans development / design
- Develop house specifications
- Estimate costs and set price of home
- Home building contract
Approvals
- Secure financing (construction loan)
- Acquire permits to build
- Developer / homeowner association approval (if required)
Home Building - Foundation & Frame
- Staking for foundation work
- Tree clearing (if necessary)
- Excavation / setting grade (yard levels)
- Foundation / backfill dirt
- Frame, windows, exterior doors, exterior trim, and siding
Home Building - Exterior
- Exterior painting
- Roofing
- Utilities: electric main trenching, gas main trenching, water
main and sewer installation, septic field and well water system (if
applicable)
- Brick and stone exterior
- Gutters and brick flashing
- Exterior concrete (drives, walks, patios)
- Grading of yard
Home Building - Interior
- Heating and cooling rough-in
